What are pre/post backup actions?

top previous next

A pre/post backup action is an action performed immediately before or after a backup is created.

These actions can either be: a system shutdown, a user logoff, a system suspension (this will either hibernate or sleep the machine depending on the system configuration), a rush activity or a command with optional arguments.

A command in the context of pre/post backup actions is similar to the command you would type in the command (cmd.exe) application in Windows.

For example, if you wish to run a program as a pre/post backup action you would enter the command, with its switches/options in much the same way as you would in the Windows command application.
